Just Another Day

Life:

Two weeks and I am officially off to the Centennial State. In the meantime, I have been packing, packing, and packing some more. Here is a glimpse of my room. Stressful, I know.

My cat will stay home with my family as she is getting up there in age. Although, I am not sure she is quite ready to say Au Revoir! :(

Music:

Upon request, I will be talking and sharing a bit more about dance and music. I came across a song the other day that I found really beautiful. I love the sound and the lyrics are for those who wait.

Song of the week: To Whom it May Concern by The Civil Wars

"Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one."
~Dr. Seuss

Short Story:

A few days ago, my mother and I ran some errands together. During that time, while in the check-out lane in the grocery store, my mother proceeds to start singing Someone Like You by Adele. Probably one of the funniest moments of my life. An elderly lady behind us asked if she could have some of whatever we had and we told her it was probably just our Bigby coffee finally getting to us. The elderly woman turns around and mutters, "I need to get me some of that." Too funny. Therefore, the artist of the week is:

 Artist of the week: Adele

"I don't make music for the eyes, I make music for the ears."
~Adele

This is a group that you can never go wrong with. I haven't met a song by them yet, that I have not liked.

Album of the week: Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot

Fashion:

I love the high-end fashion, but sometimes you have to be practical. Of course, who wouldn't want the designer dress?! In this economy we need to know how to get that designer look for a not-so-designer-price. :)

White Calvin Klein Blouse: $34.92                  Brown, High-Waisted, Alice + Olivia Paula
                                                                                                               Pants: $297

White H&M Blouse: $19.99                          Brown, High-Waisted, H&M Pants: $24.99

Dance:

It is sad to say that Ethan Stiefel and Angel Corella will be leaving American Ballet Theatre. They will still be very much involved in the dance world, though.

*Ethan Stiefel will be Artistic Director of the New Zealand Ballet after four years as Dean of North Carolina School of the Arts. It will be sad not seeing him on the stage, although I am sure he will be a  guest artist in the future.

*Angel Corella will be continuing to run his newly founded ballet company called the Barcelona Ballet, after his retirement and final performances in ABT's, Swan Lake.

The new documentary, First Position, has some critics raving and some critics roaring. I have not yet seen it myself, but I do plan on it in the future. Based on the previews, much of what goes on really is true. In fact, some of these girls stories look truly inspiring. I am excited to see this film.

Not only is this documentary creating a stir, but a young girl, Michaela DePrince, is getting to the core of those who read her story. Born in Sierra Leone, she has overcome all odds and you can read about where she is now. You can find her in the last June/July issue of Teen Vogue or follow this link:

New Month. New Tastes. New People. New Start.

Three weeks now until I begin my long journey to Colorado! Time has flown by and the anticipation has me excited and overwhelmed at the same time. Putting God first is hard, but important. Music is what keeps me most connected with God. David Crowder's C.D. is only $13.99 on iTunes which includes 34 songs!

Family is important to me and now that I will be leaving them it is essential I spend some quality time with each of my family members, my mom especially. One way we love to connect is to sit down and watch a romantic movie. I swear we have watched Pride and Prejudice at least 15 or 16 times. I even went out and bought my own copy at Target for $5! (STEAL!)

Recently, I have been trying some new foods. I am not very adventurous so this was a big change for me. Protein is definitely something I struggle with getting into my diet. So here is my most recent recipe for a protein-filled and healthy breakfast or lunch!

Parfait Blues:
2 Cups of Cheerios (Plain or Multi-Grain)
1 Cup of Blueberry Yogurt (Chobani is my favorite)
1 Banana (Sliced)
1 Cup of Lite Whipped Topping
1/2 Cup of Blueberry's
1/3 Cup of Granola (Sprinkled on top)
